Business Appreciation Week - Kaine Designates

GOVERNOR KAINE DESIGNATES BUSINESS APPRECIATION WEEK

~Statewide events scheduled from May 14-20 to recognize Virginia businesses~

RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine has designated May 14-20th, 2006, as Business Appreciation Week in the Commonwealth. Coordinated each year by the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, the week is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of Virginia businesses. This year’s theme, “Navigating Virginia’s Future,” acknowledges the determination of the state’s corporate citizens.

“Virginia businesses affect every aspect of our lives – from job growth and quality of life to our Commonwealth’s prosperity and positive business climate,” said Governor Kaine. “Their success plays a vital role in keeping Virginia moving forward.”

Governor Kaine officially acknowledged Virginia businesses today at the Annual Business Appreciation Week Governor’s Breakfast in Richmond. Localities across the Commonwealth also have scheduled activities to recognize their area business owners and operators. For a complete listing of statewide events, visit www.dba.virginia.gov.

The Virginia Department of Business Assistance supports economic development in the Commonwealth by working with new and existing businesses to provide workforce incentives, loans, business information, incubator counseling, and educational opportunities for the business and economic development communities. DBA also administers the Virginia Business Information Center (VBIC), which provides answers and solutions to business related inquiries. VBIC can be contacted by calling (804) 371-0438, (866) 248-8814 (toll free), or by e-mailing VBIC@dba.virginia.gov.
